I find that there are two types of people in the world when it comes to achieving goals and dreams. Those who need to get it done, *right now* and those who need time to plan and properly research before taking the steps necessary. People who get married and have kids young, or graduate collage and start a career young, or join the Army young, or whatever, tend to be the ones who cannot wait. They want to get their goals accomplished early in life so they can spend the rest of their life enjoying said goals. There is nothing wrong with that, as long as you are completely sure that this is what you want for the rest of your life. This job, this woman, this contract, this house, these neighbors, whatever. I feel really good for people when they have been with their spouse since they were basically kids, or when someone still loves their job until they day they retire.
However these characteristics just do not manifest themselves in me in any way shape or form. I tend to need time and thought, more so than most, in order to achieve a goal. I consider each possible outcome, what the alternatives are, the pros and cons, etc. This may seem ridiculous to some but I have found that the major decisions and goals I do accomplish in my life are long lasting and enjoyable. The goals I have set for myself are also, well less contemporary, and much more difficult to achieve due to the fact that not as many people have done so before me. When a road is less traveled there will almost certainly be cracks in the pavement.
So with that said I envy people who know what their goals are, set out to accomplish them young, and live happily ever after. I pity people who are so scared of living that they throw themselves in to the rat race of life so young that they get jaded by the time they're 40. I am neither of these two extremes I'd like to believe. I am accomplishing short term goals at a young age, and plan on getting the big stuff done in intervals throughout my life. Get the small things done first so the big stuff doesn't hold you back from doing so. Let the big things be separated by years, don't try and get everything done all at once, that way there is always something to look forward to.
