Political Activism

Last night I walked around town as something we call Alive After Five was going on. All of Main St closed down, bands playing on every corner, rock wall, stands, restaurants and bars serving people outside, good times. The entire time I was there though I was carrying around voter registration forms and information about Obama. I got 4 people to register, nothing spectacular and they were all friends of mine who I ran in to but it was still good times. I am going to do it again the next 4 weeks that Alive After Five goes on and see how many people I can register. People asked me if I was getting paid or any sort of reimbursement, but of course I wasn't I'm doing this for the purpose inherently behind it, activism and caring about people getting involved. Even when people said they were anti Obama I still credited them for being registered and told them all that matters is that they vote, not who they vote for.

Wolrd War 3

My predictions of who will be partaking in WW3 when it breaks out.

The Allies
America
Israel
India
France
UK
Australia
Canada

The Axis
China
Russia
Iran
Hezbollah
Palestine
North Korea
Syria

And some other smaller nations will take sides of course, but these will be the major combatants. It all starts when Israel attacks Iran, claiming to be destroying only nuclear facilities for it's own future survival. Iran, just as promised will strike back with ferocity sending missile strikes to Israel, which will of course, just as Cheney wants, force America to back our ally.
America invades Iran, with all the troops it brought home from Iraq. The all out war has begun. Hezbollah, Palestine, and the entirety of the middle east goes to war. Many against the US lead insurgency, others in civil disputes amongst themselves. Troops from NATO, Europe, Canada and Australia are sent in to try and establish some sort of military control over the situation. However with close ties to Russia and China Iran finally asks for help form the heavy hitters. It takes some convincing but Russia attacks American soil. what they will target is anyone's guess. China isn't far behind seeing an opportunity to come out of this war the strongest nation in the world.
Who knows how it will end, most likely is mutual self assured destruction. But it will go down something like that. At least that's what this humble opinion maker thinks. Give it a few years, 2010-2012ish will be the tipping point. Iran isn't stepping down it's nuclear production and Israel and America are pretty adamant about their stance on that. All out war with Iran isn't going to be as well supported as with Iraq, so we better hope this doesn't come to pass.

Whats George H.W. up to?

John McCain and George H.W. Bush (W.'s Dad), the 41st President of the United States, and a slew of reporters met at Bush home in Maine yesterday. The former Prez made a few significant statements, not about politics but about him personally and the way he lives his life. I like him, always did, I just wish his son had fallen a little closer to the tree. Check it out.

"When asked about Barack Obamas strategy in Iraq, Bush smiled. I defer to Sen. McCain on that, he said softly. I don't follow this day to day anymore. I sit by the ocean and watch the tide come in and go out."

"When asked if he was bothered that Obama plans to hold such large events overseas, Bush smiled. A little jealous is all, he said, adding that he thought the Democratic candidate would receive a warm welcome in Germany."

"Bush chatted with reporters at length, shaking hands and making small talk despite the urging of some aides. He joked about suffering from a disease (old age, that is), shared complaints about recent back troubles and divulged plans for skydiving on his 85th birthday next June."

Gas or Coffee?

"Americans may be willing to pay $4 for a grande double-shot mocha frappucino. They're not willing to pay $4 for some unique blend of fuel that has been determined to save the air in your city,"-Roy Blunt

First off, nice last name, second off you make a valid point. Americans go to Starbucks like it's Church, spending obscene amounts of money on COFFEE, yet we'll spend all day complaining about gas at the same price. Gas is important, it is needed world wide and it is a finite resource. If something with those kind of credentials can't garner $4 a gallon how can milk and coffee which are VERY renewable? Gas is going up, we in America still pay less than most of the world. Stop complaining and get over it. Sooner or later we'll be running our cars on water and piss and we will have all forgotten about gas prices. It might not be for another 30 years but whatever, GET OVER IT!

Scream 4!!!

The first Scream movie is one of my all time favorites. It redefined horror for a generation, created many slasher wannabes and spawned two sequels. The second one was ok the third sucked. But that doesn't take away from the MASSIVE amount of excitement that rushed through me as I read today that Scream 4 has been announced. I cannot wait!!!

Just like the iPhone

So I am typing this blog on my new touch screen Sprint Instinct. I bought it this morning, when I went in to the store I asked to see the phone and one of the reps brought me over to it and said "Here, it's just like the iPhone" then walked away to let me play. Personally I don't mind the simple Apple comparison, but don't you think competitors should try to separate themselves instead of using the name of the most widely recognized touch phone to describe their version?!

All Star Game

Another mid summer classic is under way. Tonight is the home run derby, tomorrow is the game itself. Being played, for the last time ever, at Yankee Stadium, dozens of the best baseball players of the year are gathering to fight it out, American League VS National League. For the past 11 years the American League has been victorious. Personally I root for the National League, but this year there aren't even any Mets on the starting rotation, unlike the past 2 years where 3-4 Mets started the game. They do have David Wright as a backup and Billy Wagner as a closer, but come on?! We shall see how it goes down, hopefully this is the year the streak is broken.

9:52 PM
OMG 28 Home Runs in one round by Josh Hamilton! Beats the old record held buy Bobby Abreu of 24, crazy!

E3

Today is the first day of the three day annual video game and electronic media conference called E3. In 2006 the world got to see the Wii in use for the first time. And oh boy did it make an impact. Our society, believe it or not, is being changed by video games. They are in their infancy still, just as film, TV, books, CD's and Internet were at one point. Internet is still pretty young as well, but had grown alot in the last 20 years. Whatever the case may be, video games are starting to hit their full stride. When you get everyone from nursing home residents to children, girls to guys, Americans to Japanese, all partaking in the same form of "entertainment" that is a cultural phenomenon. When the media starts to move from just games to educational and fitness related software, you know it is a art form that has no limit. Video games are here to stay, they are becoming more main stream, highly acclaimed, and impact our lives in more important and extreme ways than ever before. Here's to another great E3, some more amazing releases by Microsoft, Nintendo and Sony, and some entertaining, light hearted, news to get through the next few days enjoying.

SPORE by Will Wright (SIMS) and a second new Guitar Hero coming to DS, WHOO HOOO!

But that not all, GTA Chinatown Wars being made for DS!!!!!

Wii Sports...Resort! Jet Ski, Frisbee, Swords, and much more.

Just how ignorant are conservatives?

"Conservative activists are preparing to do battle with allies of Sen. John McCain in advance of September's Republican National Convention, hoping to prevent his views on global warming, immigration, stem cell research and campaign finance from becoming enshrined in the party's official declaration of principles."

http://www.msnbc.msn.com/id/25561143/

How in the world can any decent human being, claim that trying to preserve the environment, cure deadly diseases, grant basic human rights and allow the American public, as opposed to "big business", to finance elections, be a bad thing?

Conservatives are every single day becoming less and less aware and connected to the "will of the people". They are living in a world where scientific advances current societal concerns and basic world knowledge just doesn't exist.

Stop living based on superstition and greed and learn to adapt and evolve in a changing world. Or else you'll go the way of the dodo. Stupid fucks.

I give credit to John McCain for sticking with his ideals on these matters even though he knows alot of his base may not agree.

George Washington Smoked Marijuana!

“Make the most of the hemp seed, sow it everywhere.”~Thomas Jefferson

“All you need to know are a few basics. First, there are male and female plants. The substance that gives marijuana its famous psychoactive kick is concentrated in the flowers or buds of the females. So when they’re old enough to tell them apart, kill the males. Two, give your plants plenty of light and not too much water.”~George Washington

“I think people need to be educated to the fact that marijuana is not a drug. Marijuana is an herb and a flower. God put it here. If He put it here and He wants it to grow, what gives the government the right to say that God is wrong?”~Willie Nelson

“Even if one takes every reefer madness allegation of the prohibitionists at face value, marijuana prohibition has done far more harm to far more people than marijuana ever could.”~William F Buckley Jr.

“Whenever the people are for gay marriage or medical marijuana or assisted suicide, suddenly the "will of the people" goes out the window.”~Bill Maher

"I was arrested for possession and cultivation of marijuana in the early '70s, and it was thrown out. The judge asked me how I felt about it, and I said, "I understand the law, and I want you to know I'll pay the fine, but I cannot guarantee I will not break this law again." He really chewed me out for that."~George Carlin

“A house is a home when it shelters the body and comforts the soul.”

It has been a long political season, I have spent much of my time lately reading, thinking about, and writing about world news and politics. Forgetting where my original intentions were, and that is philosophical, spiritual, societal and cultural matters. As well as politics and current events, but balancing the ratio is necessary. So ...

10 Steps to Simplify Your Life
1) Relationships: Sort through all the relationships you are part of, and weed out the good from the bad. Only in this is there the possibility to gain fresh new outlooks on the world and on other people.

2)Possessions: You are not your possessions, you are not your friends and family, you are not your awards and degrees. You are matter made conscious. You are a physical object with the ability to think!

3) Money:
Money is important, we need to earn it, we need to spend it, but it should not be the all encompassing reason for our lives. We should not spend our entire life in the constant pursuit of it thinking that it will solve our problems. Lastly we should not waste the money we do have!

4) Work:
Relax, kick back and enjoy the world around you. Money isn't needed to do something that simple, so working your life away is just silly. Don't let your job determine how your life is run, find a job based on your life style!

5) Religion:
Take aspects of all great world religions and philosophies and create your own religion. Pagan, Abrahamic, Dharmic, Modern all of these types of religions make incredible points and give great advice. Many of them have done great things for the world. But how can any single one of them have it right over the rest of them?

6) Food & Drink:
We not only have over done the amount of food we eat, but also the type. We eat processed and chemically enhanced foods. As well as horribly mistreated and genetically mutated meats. We depend on a 15 year old high school student to cook us our "number 1 with coke". What ever happened to cooking your own food, using ingredients that are good for you or at the very least going out to a nice restaurant?

7) Housing:
One of the most, if not the most expensive bills all of us have is paying for rent, the mortgage, utilities, property tax, or whatever other housing related bills some people may have found themselves paying for. I am not going to pretend to know how it feels to have to pay a mortgage, the longest I ever went paying rent was for 10 months, the rest of my life I have lived with one parent or the other. So besides the meager $50 a week I am asked for I do not have housing expenses right now.
However that does not mean I don't have a fully detailed and well planned out method of living for near free after moving away from home.

First off there is the incredibly simple, somewhat uncomfortable, but not all that uncommon, living in your vehicle option. Sure, sure most people you hear of that live in their vehicle are destitute, homeless, and not very socially accepted. But does that mean it isn't feasible for a decent human being to make a conscious decision to live in their vehicle? Of course not! Since last August I have been living in my 1979 VW Bus. It was parked outside my dads house in PA from August to March and now my moms house in LI from March to the present. I like to think of it as my bedroom, since neither of my parents actually have a room for me anymore since we left our house in Sayville over a year ago. I could have pushed for a two bedroom apartment, or made my dad set something up in the basement, but I didn't want that, I truly wanted to use my bus as my "home".

I am incredibly lucky to have a vehicle with two beds, a sink a stove and a fridge. Most people don't have these amenities in their car. But my point is if you are looking for a cheap way to live, investing in an RV or a camper, might be a viable source for a few months. Park at camp grounds, Walmarts, truck stops, beaches, almost anywhere. It is a very serene way to live, having a different front porch every morning.

Another incredibly out there idea is to buy land for cheap and build your own log cabin. This is an art form and life skill that has almost faded from society. How rewarding would it feel to build your own home, to your own specifications, with your own two hands? I know to me that would be incredible. Land down south can be purchased on the cheap, then the woods on your land would supply the resources, and you and some friends or family can do the work for free. Just an idea.

You can get a job that houses you, like state parks, camps, ski resorts, etc. If you live alone and don't have much stuff you can rent a room from someone instead of an entire studio apartment. You can couch surf, stay at a hostel, work on a farm,
hell I know someone in college who lived in a tent in the woods on campus. There are SO many ways to live, be comfortable, spend very little, and still be part of society.

The kid from collage lived in the woods, but when he was on campus he was just like anyone else. I live in my car but no one at work could or would ever assume I was a bum, considering I am *at work*. Where you sleep, is just that where you sleep. It does not portray your worldly status your societal standings, or your mental capacity. I am nearly a genius, have more money than most of my friends, and am very social and outgoing. I choose to live in my car because it is an awesome experience, life lesson, story, and is only temporary. I knew the first night I slept in the bus that a year from than I would be in a cabin on the top of a mountain or on a cruise ship on it's way to the Bahamas, or in Japan sleeping in a dorm room, or hell maybe I'd be in a coffin sleeping with the worms. Who the fuck knows, but I knew my life wasn't meaningless or less worthy than anyone else because of where I chose to lie my head.

Sorry for the little rant there, but it is a big peeve of mine that people are so far removed from the days when we lived in caves or straw huts. There are still people on this planet who do live in caves and huts. We in America pride ourselves on the fact that we have civilized ourselves further than these neanderthals. But the fact is, just because we don't sleep on the ground anymore doesn't mean we have to pay extravagant amounts of cash for unnecessarily comfortable and large houses.

Living for cheap doesn't only mean the price of the actual home though. It also includes the cost of powering and repairing that home. The obvious solution to high power costs is to invest in solar and wind. A $3000 wind turbine could power your whole house, that's $3000 once and then no power bill's ever again. Solar panels would do the same trick. Not to mention if you're still hooked up to the power lines you can sell excess energy back to the company, finally make money from the bastards that have been making money off of you for years.

These are just a few idea's, they are my idea's but my main concern is that you come up with your own ideas. Rethink the amount of money you are spending on your living situation and find ways to cut down on it. Reevaluate your life style and you'd be surprised how much money and stress you can save yourself when not having to deal with excessive demands on housing accommodations. I am a little extreme myself with the vehicle and cabin thing, not many people would go that far. But moving in to a smaller home, watching your electricity usage, subleasing, building a basement apartment for renters, property flipping, and so many other common things can help ease your housing situations. Just put some time and thought in to it.

Goals & Dreams

I find that there are two types of people in the world when it comes to achieving goals and dreams. Those who need to get it done, *right now* and those who need time to plan and properly research before taking the steps necessary. People who get married and have kids young, or graduate collage and start a career young, or join the Army young, or whatever, tend to be the ones who cannot wait. They want to get their goals accomplished early in life so they can spend the rest of their life enjoying said goals. There is nothing wrong with that, as long as you are completely sure that this is what you want for the rest of your life. This job, this woman, this contract, this house, these neighbors, whatever. I feel really good for people when they have been with their spouse since they were basically kids, or when someone still loves their job until they day they retire.

However these characteristics just do not manifest themselves in me in any way shape or form. I tend to need time and thought, more so than most, in order to achieve a goal. I consider each possible outcome, what the alternatives are, the pros and cons, etc. This may seem ridiculous to some but I have found that the major decisions and goals I do accomplish in my life are long lasting and enjoyable. The goals I have set for myself are also, well less contemporary, and much more difficult to achieve due to the fact that not as many people have done so before me. When a road is less traveled there will almost certainly be cracks in the pavement.

So with that said I envy people who know what their goals are, set out to accomplish them young, and live happily ever after. I pity people who are so scared of living that they throw themselves in to the rat race of life so young that they get jaded by the time they're 40. I am neither of these two extremes I'd like to believe. I am accomplishing short term goals at a young age, and plan on getting the big stuff done in intervals throughout my life. Get the small things done first so the big stuff doesn't hold you back from doing so. Let the big things be separated by years, don't try and get everything done all at once, that way there is always something to look forward to.

BBC Personality Test.

The BBC has a whole slew of Surveys and Psychology Tests that tell you all sorts of things about yourself. I find that this one was pretty fun to take and definitely described me well. Every single subject it said I was half this and half that, pretty much I am in the middle of each extreme, which is pretty much how I feel about things.

My Results
Extraversion

Some people like lots of stimulation; they want people around them, activity and excitement, whilst others prefer to be able to focus on things in a calm and quiet environment. Most people prefer a blend of the two extremes and your answers suggest that you are quite comfortable in either situation. You can probably cope with things being a bit hectic or a bit quiet but, like most people, you may find extremes in either direction uncomfortable or annoying.
Confidence

Some people make decisions very easily and tend not to worry about them before or afterwards while, at the other extreme, some people are so careful and cautious that the decisions never get made! Taking a cautious approach can be a good thing (do you want to fly with a pilot that is so free from worry and concern that she never checks her controls and instruments and doesn't bother to communicate with air-traffic control?) and you seem to have described yourself as someone who can be careful at times but is also prepared to take a few risks. This can help you deal with a range of settings and decisions but, like most people, you may feel uncomfortable if you have to work in very risky environments or if you have to be very detailed and thorough for long stretches of time.
Openness

While some people like experimenting with new things and ideas, others prefer traditional methods and taking a very practical approach to problems.

Your answers suggest that you like to balance a willingness to try new things with making sure you don't scrap an existing approach that works just because it has been around for a while. Like most people you may not enjoy constant change and uncertainty or an environment where nothing develops from year to year, but your preparedness to see the merits of new and old alike can be helpful.
Agreeableness

Most people want to be able to get on with others but to some it is the most important thing in the world, whilst others are quite happy to upset someone else if it means that things get done.

Your answers suggest that you can be firm with people when you need to be but that getting on with others is still important to you. Like most people you would rather avoid conflict but are not prepared to put up with being treated badly by others.
Conscientiousness

Some people like everything to be well planned, tidy and organised, whilst others prefer to deal with things as they come up and appear to work in absolute chaos.

Your answers suggest that, like most people, you like to have a little clarity about where things are but that you would rather cope with some things as they arise than spend too much time sorting out every single detail. This approach may help you when working with teams and also when having to deal with those situations that you just can't plan for.

The Other Candidates

Everyone knows all about Barack Obama and John McCain, but don't forget about Bob Barr and Ralph Nader.

Robert Laurence "Bob" Barr, Jr.(born November 5, 1948) is the Libertarian Party nominee for President of the United States in the 2008 election. He is a former federal prosecutor and a former member of the United States House of Representatives. He represented Georgia's 7th congressional district as a Republican from 1995 to 2003.

Barr attained national prominence as one of the leaders of the impeachment of President Bill Clinton. Barr joined the Libertarian Party in 2006, and until May 2008 served on its National Committee.

Ralph Nader (born February 27, 1934) is an American attorney, author, lecturer, political activist, and perennial candidate for President of the United States in five elections, including the current election, with his role in the 2000 election in particular being subject to much debate. Areas of particular concern to Nader are consumer rights, humanitarianism, environmentalism, and democratic government.

McCunt!

John McCain called his wife a trollop and a cunt in 1992 in front of a few reporters because she twirled his hair and said he was thinning on top. Of course the media darling that he is got a free pass on this one. But do woman really want a president who talks that way to his wife, and do Americans really want a president who has such a horrible temper and anger issues?
